I came across this short film from Ro Randall on the Cambridge Carbon Conversations model, filmed last year in Manchester. Visit their website

Following the disappointment over the recent Climate Change Challenge Bid, made by the Formby Parish Council, it seems to me that at the very least we can start our own conversation here in Formby.

Recently the Formby Parish Council submitted a 'Climate Change Challenge Bid' to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). The outcome of the Bid should be known by 18th January. Part of the Bid included a proposal for an 'Edible Gardens Project' for Formby. The idea is for residents to use part of their gardens for growing food, perhaps using raised beds supplied by a local trader. The produce would be exchanged or sold between the members of the scheme as well as exhibited at a annua…

I've just added the 'flickr api' which is a software tool that lets members of formbyfirst import their own photographs from collections they keep on the 'flickr' web site.
To add your own, got to your page on 'formbyfirst' and click on 'photo' and you'll be offered the opportunity to import images from your own 'flickr' account.
In my example, I've added 8 photographs documenting a visit to Frodsham to view the local Heritage Scheme in the centre of Frodsham. I then used the 'album' link to c…

In 1965 I went to St Mary's College in Twickenham to train as a teacher. I studied Drama, Sociology and Education Studies. One of my friends eventually went on to much bigger and better things, as Pete Postlethwaite, he has carved out a unique career in film and theatre. He is the central figure in a film called 'The Age of Stupid'. I've added this link to a trailer for the film, to see the whole film watch

Dear Friends,
I've set up an Energy Savings Trust Formby Carbon Footprint page at:
Formby Climate Change Challenge: Carbon Footprint Calculator
Please visit this page and register, you can then obtain your own Carbon Footprint by following the instructions. This data will also be anonymised and added to the grand total for Formby. Once we get more than 50 entries the tool begins to provide an accurate…

Hi everyone, I have just had my new, improved web site go live. It now contains more helpful information and ideas for all things health and fitness, take a look at http://www.fittoyou.co.uk and have a read, there is loads of free information on there. It was built by a fellow Formby First member Lee Raven, so if you are impressed, look him up. There are a few spelling errors etc, so if you spot any then let me know, it is one of those things that you read that often you can't see the wood for t…

This week I appeared on bbc 1, this is the link, should you be interested in seeing me (my part is about 20 mins in) and it was filmed months ago, but was only just aired on TV. It was exciting and scary at the same time, but I think it turned out ok.

Until two years ago, I'd never heard of moon bears, never mind bear bile farming. But the images in that particular Sunday magazine will haunt me for ever, and they're the reason why - in a few weeks' time ' - I'll be heading off to Hanoi with 13 others to begi…

Well this next week is quite exciting for me, I have been printed in Men's Fitness Magazine, a national magazine. I am to appear on BBC1 next week, I have an article published in the Liverpool on the move magazine and hopefully a piece in the Formby Times. I don't think it quite rivals Gill's success of getting in the paper, but still is pretty big for me.

Formby faces a number of issues in the short, medium and long term. One such issue is the notion of Peak Oil, some in the oil industry believe it may have already occurred. I've added this video to illustrate the idea, have a look, do you think this is a real threat and if so, what should we be doing to adapt and change if Formby is to be truly resilient?

I am a firm believer in Customer Service, and it is something I instill in myself and staff, everyone should feel they have had a great experience wether spending 1pence or 10000pounds, So I was wondering were have you experienced the finest of Formby service?
My best experience has been at Formby Hardware Store, excellent service and couldn't do enough for me. They even phoned the manufacturer to confirm a question for me.
So where do you feel the staff have done a great job? Please only positi…

I am feeling guilty, I had every intention of attending the Breakfast Meeting this morning, but, even though I was up, I totally forgot this morning, which is so unlike me, when I did remember it was 8:30. So I was wondering will any notes / minutes / actions be posted on the site, for us who couldn't make it (or remember). I apologise for not attending and missing out on the bacon butty, I do hope it was well attended though and I do offer my support.
