Climate Change Challenge

Formby Parish Council has decided to take up the Government's recent Climate Change Challenge. The Council has agreed to make a bid for funds of up to £500,000 for a Capital spend programme in Formby. The Challenge is designed to reduce the Carbon footprint of those communities that make a succesful bid. In all there are 20 'places' and the Government is using this challenge as a pilot study to find out what sort of locally based initiatives produce a clear reduction in CO2 emissions.
Councillors Mike Coles and Sean Brady are leading the preparation of the bid document which has to be ready and submitted by the end of December. They anticipate that a small project group will be formed from Formby residents with the appropriate experience to complete this high profile project. More soon.

They've done really well in Ashton Hayes. It would be great if Formby could follow their good example.

I've just come across this video on You Tube about a local Cheshire initiative to combat Climate Change at a local level in Ashton Hayes Village:

What can we do locally? Is there any interest in meeting to take this sort of idea forward?

Something along these lines may qualify for a grant, what do you think?
